SQL course datasets with answer keys
Northwind’s last order is from 1998 and Chinook’s from 2013, the answers are on the first page of a search, and a table that never changes has nothing to say about time. Building a scenario by hand takes a weekend and yields one exercise.
A business with the operational tables
Each dataset is a business with operational tables and no rollups. Revenue is summed from order lines, retention is built from cohorts, the funnel is sessionized from pageviews. The claims are the exercises, with the query as the answer key and a band instead of one number, because a different seed gives a different number inside the same band.
Get the course data
Download the SQLite file and hand it out, or the CSV bundle for a Postgres or dbt course. The claim pages are ready-made exercises with worked answers. For a seed per student, leave an email above.
